Stable Ground Housing Initiative provides transitional housing and supportive services for veterans and individuals rebuilding their lives after incarceration.
Our Mission
Housing is the first step. Not the last. When someone walks out of a VA hospital or a correctional facility, the single biggest predictor of whether they rebuild their life is whether they have a stable place to sleep tonight.
We exist to make sure the answer is yes.
What We Do
Safe, stable housing that gives veterans and returning citizens the foundation they need to rebuild. Not a bed for the night. A home to grow from.
Wraparound support that addresses the whole person. Financial literacy, healthcare navigation, employment coaching, and connection to community resources.
Deep partnerships with landlords, employers, service providers, and faith communities. We connect the people who need help with the people who can provide it.
Who We Serve
Most organizations serve veterans or returning citizens. We serve both, because the barriers to stability are the same: no address, no credit history, no one willing to take a chance.
Men and women who served their country and came home to nothing. PTSD, disability, displacement. They gave everything. We help them get something back.
Individuals reentering society after incarceration. The system says they've paid their debt. The housing market says otherwise. We bridge that gap.
Every person we house is a life redirected. A family kept together. A cycle broken. We are building the infrastructure of second chances in Milwaukee, one door at a time.
